Project Engineer

Job Description

Summary: The F-90 project engineer will coordinate all activities related to assembly and test of the F-90 rifle at Dasan USA in Duluth, GA.  Work will include preparation of facilities, staffing, qualification of assemblies and sub-assemblies, installation of equipment, and procurement of equipment and tools necessary to assemble and test the rifle.  

Duties and responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain a set of milestones for all activities related to industrializing the assembly of the F90 at Dasan USA.

• Coordinate work with employees of Thales and Dasan Korea to ensure milestones will deliver the desired result.

• Develop a facilities plan for Dasan USA that will support the assembly and test of the F90 in Georgia.

• Provide a cost estimate for all facilities work, equipment, tooling, etc., and manage the project costs to the approved budget.

• Coordinate with external companies as required to setup CeraKote painting station and to train employees on the Cerakote process. Work will include, but not be limited to permitting, equipment procurement and installation, training of employees, and process verification.

• Coordinate with external companies as required to setup a test fire operation at Dasan USA.  Work will include, but not be limited to permitting, bullet trap installation, NRA training, and process verification.

• Develop a headcount model for the assembly and test operations, provide justification for headcount, and assist with the hiring of employees to perform that work.

• Provide regular status reports to management on overall industrialization project.

• Coordinate with Thales and Dasan Korea to complete first articles of all parts and sub-assemblies that will be made at Dasan USA.

• Ensure that work instructions are completed for all assembly and test operations.

• Coordinate with Thales engineers to ensure that quality standards for all assembly operations are in place that meet Thales expectations prior to full production.

• Develop contingency and mitigation plans to address quality, schedule, or other project issues as they develop.  Coordinate with Dasan Korea, Thales, and/or Dasan USA personnel as required to obtain the necessary support to address the issues.  

• Other duties as assigned related to F-90 industrialization in the U.S.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field.

• 5 years of project engineering and/or project management experience.

• 2-3 years of management experience.

• 2 years international experience, working on projects or working within a supplier/customer relationship.

Preferred:

• Experience working in the firearms industry.

• Experience manufacturing firearms.

• Fluent in conversational and technical conversational Korean and English.

• Working knowledge of semi-automatic rifles.

• Master’s degree in engineering.
